How to Launch a Course If You Don't Have Too Much Time

“Oh online courses… I wish it wasn't too time-consuming.”

I’d usually shake my head and automatically debunk it in my head when I hear this.

If this is one of your complaints or excuses on why you’re not launching a course even if you want to, I understand where you’re coming from. If you look around, so many people say you gotta hustle or #nosleep if you want to be successful -- in this case, launch your course successfully.

But hear me out:

Launching a course takes time.

It does! No doubt about that.

Because just like everything else, you have to make an effort and spend time to be able to do something.

But launching a course is only time-consuming IF YOU LET IT.

Let me explain.

Right now, you’re probably thinking that launching a course means you have to be focused around it 24/7. That means if you have a 9-5 job or clients to work with, it’s not possible to launch a course unless you stretch yourself thin or give up sleep.

But, I invite you to shift your perspective just for now.

What if you take at least one hour every day to work on your course? If not, just 30 minutes!

In this context of spending one hour/day, let me tell you how possible it is to launch a course if you don’t have too much time. Let me break this down for you:

  • Spend 3 hours doing market research (3 days)
  • Spend 1 hour mapping out your course foundations (1 day)
  • Spend 1 hour outlining your course structure (1 day)
  • Spend 1 hour creating your sales page (1 day)
  • Spend 1 hour planning your content calendar (1 day)
  • Spend 2 hours batch-creating your promotional content (2 days)

TOTAL = 9 days

Okay, so I totally oversimplified the process just to give you the big picture. But I hope you get what I mean.

You only need a little more than a week to prepare your course before launching it and delivering the course content afterward. If you take into consideration the fact that some of those tasks can even be done in less time, you can even do it for a week!

If this doesn’t make it seem SO POSSIBLE for you to launch a course if you don’t have too much time, I don’t know what will.

5 Tips to Launch a Course If You Don't Have Too Much Time

Here are some tips for you to launch a course if you feel like it’s too time-consuming. Perhaps you have a full-time job or you have client work all day long and you’re just launching a course on the side. But I’m telling you, if there’s a will, there’s a way.

Set Your Priorities

If you don’t set your priorities straight, you’ll eventually risk yourself with overwhelm or stress. A lot of us add too much on the task list, not because they’re all necessary but because we want to feel productive. So when choosing which tasks to focus on when it comes to launching your course, it’s important to stick to your priorities.

Plan in Advance

Planning takes some time, but if you do it in advance, it’s going to give you more time to DO the task rather than keep yourself PLANNING for it. It helps to set aside time at least every 1-3/week checking in on your plans and mapping out what you’d be doing for the rest of the week/month.

Stop Obsessing Over Perfection

Launching a course is supposed to be simple. A lot of times, you’re just overcomplicating the process because you feel like you have to make everything perfect.

Instead of letting perfectionism cripple you from ACTUALLY launching your course, let loose on yourself. It’s okay to make mistakes. It’s okay to fail as long as you’re taking the lessons with you. Either way, you’re growing and you’re making progress as a course creator.

Focus on Your Zones of Genius

You clearly have things that you love doing and things that you hate doing. Chances are it’s the same thing when it comes to launching a course. You might love creating the course content but you hate the tech side.

If you feel called to it and/or you have an extra budget for it, why not outsource some of the tasks you don’t feel good doing? So many people out there absolutely love graphic design, but on the other hand, you're probably losing your mind trying to do it. Go and find someone who could make the work easier for you. You’ll save loads of time.

Don't Reinvent the Wheel

Launching a course gets overwhelming when you try to figure it all by yourself.

You see, what you spend SO MUCH time on is NOT actually doing the things that would move your course forward. It’s more likely that what’s taking so much time for you is the fact that you’re trying to learn everything and piece all the strategies out on your own.

So, if you want to launch a course if you don’t have too much time -- here’s what I suggest: don’t hesitate to invest in someone who can give you the EXACT step-by-step process. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel anymore. Someone has already been a few steps ahead of you and seek their support! This not only saves you time but also makes the process simpler and less stressful for you!
